From the Creators of Pokemon GO, Niantic, Comes a new world exploration game: Monster Hunter Now.
Very Recently I Started playing Monster Hunter now. Its still in its very early stages but has great potential and its quite fun and rewarding. But unfortunately having been recently released the game tends to become repititive.Lets walk through the 5 catergories and ill explain my opinions:
[6]Story
[7]Gameplay
[8]Graphics
[9]Mechanics
[6]Difficulty
Lets start off with the story, You are a Hunter whos come in contact with a being from a different world. You discover these new and intresting beasts around you and get more and more creatures to fight as your story goes on. Your first discovery is what the game calls a “Palico” which is basically your pet that picks up resources in the enviroment.
Your goal is to become one of the top Hunters. As you progress the storyline the quests become quite repetitive as you progress, but its early stages of the game so things could still pick up and improve. Your job as a Hunter is to analyze these anomalies and kill the monsters you discover. Overall the story is a 6 and while its early stages its not that enticing.
Secondly, we have the Gameplay, While the story is only a 6 the gameplay is a 7, here is why. You are a Hunter in the world that surrounds you, if you know Niantic and Pokemon Go, you will know that walking is a major factor in the game. As you progress in the game you will learn about the different biomes you visit, and each biome offers something different.
Everyday the biomes change and offers different resources to collect. With that being said, If you have the correct settings on your Monster Hunter Now will run in the background and your Palico will collect these resources. Once the bag is full you will get a notification that your Palico can no longer collect items for you. Its also not your standard “Pokemon go-Style” game. There are a few cool Mechanics that I will get to in a minute.
Thirdly we have the Graphics. First of all, keep in mind that this is a mobile game and you cant expect crysis-like graphics. It is, however, very decent. Very smooth, with nice particle effects. The monster detail is very well done and the animations are smooth. I play on a Samsung S23. so I do not know how older phones or phones with less ram and cpu power, run the game. I have not experience any hardware lag but I experience a few network errors that have cause lag and that affects the gameplay.Overall Im giving a rating of 8 in the graphics catergory.
Fourthly, we have the mechanics, and boy do I love this games mechanics. You remember Pokemon Go right? So you remember having to constantly be in the game to catch Pokemon or you missed them? Well this is NOT like that. Big emphasis on NOT. Why, you ask? Well the already mentioned mechanic of your Palico collecting items for you is Amazing, so you dont have to constantly be in the game to collect resources. Which makes it great though its only 6 items, its better than none.
My Favourite mechanic in Monster Hunter Now is the paintball system, let me explain: You get two types of paintballs Pink Paintballs and Blue Paintballs. Paintballs are used to mark and large beasts in your vicinity and allows you to hunt them at a later time. Yes, you read that correctly. You can come back and hunt them later, be warned tho they do expire after a certain amount of time.
The Blue Paintballs are the ones your Palico can use to automatically mark any large beast it sees, but only 3 per day. Everyday you get a fresh set, so your Palico can go ahead and mark the Monsters you might have missed on your travels.
The Pink Paintballs are the ones you can purchase from the shop and they are the ones that you as the player can use to mark said Monsters. I have 11 in my inventory at the time of writing this so im not sure what the maximum quantity is that you can carry. This mechanic, paired with your Palico collecting resources made this game more engaging, I dont have to constantly check my phone to slay monsters.
As I said earlier in this article the quests can become quite repetitive, but that hasnt stopped me from logging in everyday to collect my items.Im giving the Mechanics category a solid 9.
Finally we turn to the Difficulty segment coming in with a low score of 6. The game does gradually increase over time. as you level up Higher star monsters become available to slay. It doesnt feel to challenging, you have the dodge mechanic, to avoid any damage and you get abilities with your equipment as you level them, but it does not seem as challenging as a Monster Hunter game. There is however some Monsters that are to difficult to fight alone, so you can team up with people in your area by scanning the party QR code and then joining the battle, unfortunately I have never made contact with such Monster to attempt to slay it so im not sure how hard it really is. If I Find more players and find this Monster eventually, I will update my review.
My Final thoughts on Monster Hunter Now is that the game has alot of potential. If you are playing this game for the first time I do recommend hanging on if it seems disappointing. Push through the levels, finish the tutorial then make a decision. Its fun, its different, you dont have to spend any of your hard earned money to get somewhere. The Mechanics are solid and that made me want to play the game more. If you are going for a jog or just sitting in the park whip out your Monster Hunter Now and slay some Monsters. Im excited to see where this game goes.
My overall rating for the game is a 7. The Mechanics and the graphics may be brilliant, but there is still work to be done and I am patiently waiting to change my scores in the next review. Written by TheNazgulian58
Synced offers an engaging and challenging roguelike experience that combines resource collection with intense combat. The game’s focus on improving your runner while battling corrupted husks adds a layer of strategy to the typical roguelike formula. The post-apocalyptic setting adds a unique atmosphere to the gameplay, immersing players in a world filled with danger and uncertainty. However, some players might find the gameplay a bit repetitive, as the cycle of collecting resources and fighting husks can become somewhat monotonous over time. Nevertheless, the game’s mechanics and progression system may provide enough depth to keep players engaged, making it a solid choice for fans of the roguelike genre
Unfortunately I can’t find myself investing a lot of time into the “story” aspect of the gameplay loop. My above review does not include the PVP portion of the game but is my sole experience in the PVE story mode.
Out of 10 I would not go below 6 but not above a 7 resulting in a passable 6.5/10

In a world where disease runs rampant, machines roam the city and a inventor plagued with guilt over the monstrosities that have now taken over the city he called his home. Lies of P puts you on this incredible journey of discovery and lies.
Welcome to the journey of becoming a real boy. In a new and compelling tale of Pinnochio, originally written by Carlo Collodi, we are diving head first into the journey of Gippetto, Gemini and Pinnochio. The city has been overrun by the various creations of the Puppet Master, Gippetto. Thrown into the city of Krat our journey starts as P. Fighting our way off the train into a city riddled with various dangers.
Lies of P is a souls-like RPG, not for the faint of heart but not as unforgiving as others in this genre. Writing this review, I have only defeated 3 bosses, and yet I feel so drawn into the story. A childhood story brought to life by the beautiful art style of modern-day graphics and mechanics. Walking through the city streets admiring the small details that have been placed in the game makes it so much more captivating. Combat is fluid, filled with a sense of death at every turn, but also a sense of accomplishment as you progress through the storyline. The story being told is magnificent. Following the character P, you must save the City of Krat from the uncontrollable puppets that have destroyed most of humanity. The last remaining humans are hidden behind locked doors and closed curtains. What makes lies of P different? Well, it may be a souls-like game, but it brings a sense of familiarity. Characters we grew up with, a familiar story, and your decisions will either allow you to remain a puppet or become a real boy.
[ ] The story is a solid 10/10
[ ] Gameplay is 8/10
[ ] Graphics is 10/10
[ ] Mechanics is 7/10
[ ] Difficulty is a 7/10
The story is solid. I have not found anything in the story that has put me in a position where I dont feel immersed.
Gameplay could be worked on a little, some of the dialogue doesnt match up with some of the characters when talking to them. But not a deal breaker. The voice acting is absolutely amazing.
Graphics are absolutely amazing. The amount of detail in the game is beautiful. Old victorian style buildings, beautiful buildings, and interiors.
Mechanics could use some work, didn’t completely understand the perfect guard at first, and struggled to down some of the staggered enemies. But that’s just my opinion. Please don’t hate it cause im old.
Difficulty is there dont get me wrong, but its not as challenging as other souls-like games. It does get more challenging overtime and ill probably edit my review on later stages as I completed the game.
Overall Lies of P is an amazing adaptation of a classic childrens book and for its nailed a lot of its ideas and features. The best feature for me is the ability to change your weapons and hilts within the game, meaning you can switch up your weapons to suit your playstyle perfectly. If you love Pinocchio and always wanted to become a real boy, I highly recommend Lies of P.
Overall rating 9/10.
